69% of Americans are overweight or obese.
The reason behind the fat-pocalypse is Americans’ diet of high calorie, low nutrient foods like substances that are chemically engineered to taste delicious. After the initial scientifically derived satisfaction of eating processed foods wears off, the body becomes hungry again because it has not yet gotten the nutrients it needs for healthy functioning.
Eating a diet high in sugar and highly processed carbs that turn into sugar, forces your body to secrete insulin… the fat producing hormone. This diet combined with a modern sedentary lifestyle are the ingredients for the fat-tastrophe currently going down in the states.
It is absolutely no secret that MSG makes you fat. When they want to fatten up lab mice for experiments what do they feed them? … you guessed it monosodium glutamate.
Just this morning I flipped over my ‘Biggest Looser’ approved turkey bacon…. after mechanically separated turkey, whatever that means, sugar was the number 2 ingredient. It also included ‘natural smoke flavor’ aka MSG along with canola oil.
The ‘healthy’ turkey bacon also contained a whole list of sodiums (dictate, phosphate, nitrate)… which I did expect to a certain degree… bacon is known to be high in sodium, but 15 ingredients for something that should contain only 1 is my issue.
Don’t let the dieting industry fool you.
Carbs, fats and proteins are not the enemy. The enemy is the synthetic foods offered to us… often marketed as health food.
Only way to stop the fat-nado tearing through this country is to take liberal foodie intellectual Michael Pollan’s advice, “to eat real food, mostly vegetables and not too much.”
And remember:
By food industry definition, all MSG is ‘naturally occurring.’ ‘Natural’ doesn’t mean safe. ‘Natural’ only means that the ingredient started out in nature, like arsenic and hydrochloric acid.
